Elsie Weinstein Skaters Assistance FundAs many of you are aware, in previous years skaters have had an opportunity to receive an award from the Elsie Weinstein Scholarship fund. Elsie Weinstein was the mother of Debbie Minter, whom many of you know as a long-time coach and RMFSC member. When Ms. Weinstein passed away in 1991, her family established the Elsie Weinstein Scholarship Award as a tribute to Ms. Weinstein and a way to continue her legacy to help make skaters’ dreams come true. The Scholarship was founded with donations the family received upon Elsie’s passing. Over the years, many skaters have benefited from the Scholarship Fund, but unfortunately due to the lack of continued donations, the Scholarship funds will be depleted, and the Scholarship will end.
In an attempt to continue the legacy of Elsie and her generous nature in giving of her time, talents and money to help skaters, the Elsie Weinstein Skater’s Assistance Fund was approved by the previous board prior to the end of its term in June. It is the hope of the prior and current board members that the Elsie Weinstein Skater’s Assistance Fund will benefit a broader range of skaters, while continuing the Weinstein family legacy. The Skater’s Assistance Fund guidelines and application will be distributed to membership via email during the fall. Future monies for the Skater’s Assistance Fund will come from the Club’s fundraising efforts and donations specifically designated for this purpose. |
